The event started with the speech titled "TÜBA Award Process and Antarctic Lichens" by Prof. Dr. Gökhan HALICI, who received the 2020 TÜBA Young Scientist award. Dr. HALICI talked about the importance of scientific studies and research in Antarctica for our country and presented the story of his introduction to the Turkish scientific team working in this continent and the scientific studies he has done in this region, with rich visuals. After answering the questions of the participants about the TÜBA award process and Antarctica, Dr. HALICI thanked the biology department management and the participants for their invitation as part of the biologists' day activities at the end of the speech.
The event then proceeded with student presentations. Biology student representative Fatma Nur YALÇIN made a presentation on "Biology and Biologists", Okan YALAMA on "Covid-PCR test stages", Burak Can ERDAĞ on "The place of GMOs in our lives", and Merve Nur TEPE on "The use of mushrooms in traditional medicine".
At the end of the event, Prof .Dr. Kemal BÜYÜKGÜZEL, head of the department thanked Dr. HALICI for his TÜBA award and effective presentation, and the rector Prof .Dr. Mustafa ÇUFALI, who encouraged and supported such events, on the behalf of students and participants.
